Episode 2406: Plan-It Error [non-spoiler]
Finn: We bet money we didn’t have[...]
Just to recap -- they all arrived on-planet with no cash at all. BB-8 got coins stuffed in him thinking he was a slot machine [Ep. 2366, 2370], which he then shot at a guard [2385] who was playing cards and presumably gambling with cash of his own [2381], which BB-8 may have looted with DJ [2386]. BB-8 then bets it all on the race [2400], which started early and the betting software still was open to placing bets [2405].

Finn and Rose also somehow steal coins as they are crashing through the casino betting area, while riding fathiers at racing speed. And they somehow deposit those coins and make bets using betting software, while riding animals at racing speed? [2402] I'm not sure that I'm buying (heh) this second part with Finn and Rose being able to physically do any of those tasks in their short party-crashing foray.

Truly, how did BB-8 make the bet as well, being down in the dungeon? It's a bit of a stretch that there would be a betting teller down there for the guards to make bets at any given time. It's almost a bit more of a stretch to fall back on the idea that Star Wars money is "credit chips" which are just physical tokens of a digital currency, and BB-8 could potentially have just scanned them and digitally transacted them using the betting software. Sounds like a player-explanation the GM would just go with.

But even still, to me, it seems that BB-8 is the sole winner here, unless he was being a team player and put all of their names on the bet. The Casino Guards should be tracking down the droid to give him the winnings, unless the whole "droids aren't people" plot is still going on [2372] and the winnings automatically belong to the droid's owner. In the which case, that's some seriously good surveillance the casino has to track them down so well. One could also think they've already deducted the damages to the casino from their winnings.

Also, it would appear that the urchins have indeed lost their savings and will remain in servitude. I wonder if they'll hold a grudge against these randoms who climbed out of the sewers...
