I have spent entire train trips in a dining car before. Since I'm not quite as much of a glutton as Prof Jones, I enjoyed it considerably less, also our menu selection wasn't nearly as good... But since the train was over 100% full, at least being seated somewhere was a relief. We snatched a spot at the back of the dining car immediately and held it for the next 4 hours. Occasionally getting more coffee, tea, and snacks to keep up appearances.
