I just realized that I've been reading this strip wrong for years. I thought that in panel 11, Spock was saying that the women's make-up and hairstyle makes them beautiful, and DMM just chose a phrasing that's a bit odd. No. Spock is actually saying that the Venus drug fixes the women's make-up and hairstyle, which is sillier, and Spock's choice of words isn't odd that way.
