Matthew McCleskey humorously explores the idea of turning one's opponent's lightsaber on or off in a duel in a series of skits in this video. It does feel like any setting with "spooky action at a distance" (the Force, Mage Hand, whatever) would have developed some different approaches to making equipment that can't be remotely tampered with. I don't know what that would look like (some form of biometric verification, perhaps?), but it sounds like a great world-building detail to think about for anyone coming up with a new fantasy setting. (For a fairly basic example, in Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn novels, one of the abilities Allomancers can have is pushing or pulling on metal, so there exist squads of people specialized in fighting them by having nothing metal on them, carrying obsidian daggers, wooden shields, etc.. It's not quite the same thing, but it shows how this fantastic [to us] ability is just normal to the people of this world, and how they've already thought about how to counter it.)
