My sister worked near the It's-It factory a few years ago, and not only are they cheaper there than in the stores, she declares that they're a lot better (being fresher). She'd buy a (small) cooler full and keep them in her freezer, so she knew the conditions under which they'd been kept (no thawing and refreezing while being shipped, even locally). Since that was my first exposure to them, I haven't tasted supermarket ones; I believe I've been spoiled.
