To answer the author, Jon actually does have an attic, but it's never seen in strip (only mentioned 4 times in 40+ years, twice related to getting Christmas decorations from there). Garfield and Friends has Garfield crash into it once in a 1994 episode, though we still don't see it
However we DO know what it looks like;
1985: Garfield's Halloween Adventure features it in the song number
1995: Treasury 8's front and back cover
2004: The infamous PS2/PC Garfield game has it as an area to clean up
2005: The Search for Pooky GBA game has it as a level
