I thought Serron's excuse would be that he recognized the cardboard box but he assumed that was just the packaging to protect the machine. Your version is more befitting Serron though.

Indeed I wouldn't. When they allegedly scanned me with the MRI machine, they first asked me to remove my glasses, and then led me to the door to the MRI room with all the scary warning labels posted on it. I couldn't read any of those warnings. Maybe they were warnings associated with a mass spectrometer rather than an MRI!
